with Andrew Yang is I simply don’t trust him. Honestly, I am not sure how I feel about UBI and Nuclear Power(although I now probably lean against nuclear power as I think we have recently developed much better green technology that can provide all of our energy needs without help from any other sources that is much safer, cheaper, and quicker to…[Read more]

RobertFromNC replied to the topic Kyle Kulinski: NINA TURNER 2024 in the forum Multimedia 2 years ago
@ohiobarbarian, and everybody else here. I had taken a break and wasn’t posting as much because frankly, the political situation seems hopeless to me right now. Unfortunately, I don’t see a progressive winning the presidency any time soon, the democratic party is going to make sure a progressive doesn’t get the nomination, and the general…[Read more]

would probably be between her or Tulsi Gabbard, both for president as well as the leader and “face” of the progressive movement. Jessie Ventura would also be a good option for a third party or independent run because his celebrity status would attract a lot of attention. I don’t really see a lot of other good options out there beside them…[Read more]

RobertFromNC replied to the topic A socialist response to Krystal Ball and Cornel West, and why Joe Biden is a greater potential evil than Donald Trump in the forum General Discussion 2 years ago
that Biden is a greater evil than Trump, at least when it comes to the issues, although I do think that you could make a case that Trump winning at least gives progressives a better chance in 2020. I think that it would be much harder to challenge an incumbent democrat from the left, regardless of whether that candidate is running in the…[Read more]

RobertFromNC replied to the topic Which country matches your political views? in the forum General Discussion 2 years ago
I got Uruguay. I have heard that it is actually a very progressive country. I remember watching a show that Anthony Bourdain did on Uruguay and they talked about how progressive the country was, I remember them saying they have free college and universal healthcare, and they also showed him smoking marijuana there. They also haven’t had nearly the…[Read more]

RobertFromNC replied to the topic On Jesse Ventura, first impressions. in the forum General Discussion 2 years ago
I would like to know more about his policy positions. When he refers to himself as a libertarian, hopefully he means “civil libertarian”,( which is what I would consider myself and I think many, if not most, other progressives to be) and not right libertarian like Rand or Ron Paul. I do know that he once called himself “socially liberal, fiscally…[Read more]

RobertFromNC replied to the topic Why I disagree with zealots on both sides of the “electability” question in the forum General Discussion 2 years ago
but I tend to think that Biden is going to face a lot of questions about his mental health and sexual assault allegations that are going to make it very difficult to win, he was probably the worse serious candidate the democrats could possibly put up.
I also tend the think that the democratic party is in serious long-term trouble because it has…[Read more]

RobertFromNC replied to the topic So Who Are Progressives Going to Put Up in 4 Years? in the forum General Discussion 2 years ago
The scary thing is, I don’t see that many great options. I would probably say the best one is Tulsi, but her campaign didn’t go anywhere and I know a lot of progressives are mad at her for not endorsing Bernie.

RobertFromNC replied to the topic Bernie Sanders has betrayed the movement that he helped to create. Sad. in the forum General Discussion 2 years ago
win this time. Last time, I felt like he was running just to get his message out and build up the progressive movement, which makes this feel all the more disappointing to me.

I have also reached the same conclusions as Kyle. I have the same position as Kyle with regards to this election(except that I’ll vote third party) and I also had the same position as him during the 2016 election. I am also leaning more towards the third party idea this time vs. taking over the Democratic Party, although I will still support…[Read more]

Warren or Gabbard over Sanders before the election myself, although I switched to Sanders when the others didn’t gain momentum. I also now see what was wrong with Warren, and what a terrible candidate she would have been, but I am starting to wonder if Gabbard would have been a better candidate if her campaign had gained momentum. She’s much…[Read more]

I am not sure about the whole votes flipped thing either, I think that would be very hard to do. With that being said, I certainly wouldn’t trust the results in cases were the vote totals are very close(like Florida in 2000), and the whole race certainly has not been conducted in a fair way to Bernie or Tulsi. Not to mention the…[Read more]

RobertFromNC replied to the topic #DEMEXIT: How to successfully start a third party in the forum General Discussion 2 years ago
I am starting to think that going the third party route is the correct one for progressives. I also do normally like Kim Iverson.
With that being said, I do not agree with this video at all.
No, I do not want to compromise our agenda to work with Trump voters(unless you mean getting some to vote for candidates who are progressive across the…[Read more]

I am more open to the Third Party idea unlike last time. With that being said, this does not give me much confidence that a third party movement could succeed right now. I think that it is going to take the vast majority of Bernie, Tulsi, and former Warren voters, as well as getting elected officials at all levels of government, including…[Read more]

Agree on all of that. We need to do all of those things. I would also argue that we should be placing much more emphasis on citizen initiated ballot initiatives, referendums, and direct democracy in general. Progressives ideas more often than not win at the ballot box, even in red states where progressive politicians are not as popular, and…[Read more]

RobertFromNC replied to the topic Why doesn't Bernie simply invoke FDR? in the forum General Discussion 2 years ago
Personally, I do think Bernie in addition to those running on his platform should invoke the legacy of both Roosevelts as well as the progressive era movements and politicians more. I think that we would reach even more people this way.

RobertFromNC replied to the topic AOC says Bernie Sanders WOULD compromise on Medicare-for-All if he is elected and can't get Democrats in Congress to back it saying she'd accept the 'public in the forum Latest Breaking News 2 years ago
not compromise on Medicare for All unless he can’t get it passed, and even then, I think that he would continue to fight for it as long as he is in office. With that being said, this does beg the question, What should we reasonably expect a Sanders administration to accomplish? Personally, I have never felt that getting Medicare for All all at…[Read more]
