and I’m only part-way through the video.
Fwiw, while researching how “democratic” Ukraine is, I took a look at some other countries. None of the countries the US has invaded or otherwise meddled in during my lifetime for the stated purpose of spreading democracy do now actually qualify as democracies – at best, they’re hybrids, and several, s…[Read more]

From Glenn Greenwald:
“To put this $54 billion [total so far] in perspective, it is (a) larger than the average annual amount that the U.S. spent on its own war in Afghanistan ($46 billion [which included support for US troops on the ground]), (b) close to the overall amount Russia spends on its entire military for the year ($69 billion), (c)…[Read more]

You give them your contact info, property address, and authorize them to represent you with the tax authority, they try to get your appraised value reduced, and they keep 25% of any tax savings. If they don’t save you any money, there’s supposedly no charge.
I feel doubtful for various reasons, not least of which being that I consider schools…[Read more]

women had no Consitutional rights at all until the 19th Amendment was enacted; so requiring historical evidence of a “deeply rooted” abortion right going back at least as far as the time of the 14th Amendment is just plain nuts.

By the time of Katrina, they’d take over the Board. Staff was reduced to a fraction of their former numbers. All this is what I understood from info known to or gathered by other Dem. Undergr. members at the time of Katrina; I know from the info I helped gather personally at that time that the ARC was of little help in that disaster.
My guess i…[Read more]

Biden’s nominee to the FCC. She looks better than a Republican would pick, but I’m finding ambivalent info about her attitudes toward censorship.
(B.t.w., I’m not seeing the usual JPR menu bar that would give me access to all the Topis, Dailies & Weeklies, etc. – has the JPR website been changed, or is it because I need to update my browser?)
