Technically, I mean, according to the media and government we aren’t. Realistically, we very much are. Our weapons, our supplies, troops on the ground for both stated reasons and clandestine ones.
But you won’t get that level of depth from that question, not from AI, Congress or media, anyway. It will likely maintain the fictions th…[Read more]

If you haven’t heard of it, here is a quick wiki: ChatGPT – Wikipedia
Basically, it is a new machine/digital program that can perform a variety of tasks – very quickly. In particular, it can write articles in 30 seconds that would take a human hours. It has passed exams for an Ivy league university. It writes essays, computes math (somewhat in…[Read more]

I think our own policies and poor infrastructure will break our empire well before the climate disasters could manage it. If not for the fact that they were all terrible and all occurring at once, I guess.
Debt of over thirty trillion – higher than our GDP, indicates that our true economic situation is very poor. Student loan debt of around a t…[Read more]

I think the idea of a vaccine is to provide immunity to a particular illness. Now it may not be 100% across the board, but it is how we got rid of polio, for the most part.
It seems to me that they tried to redefine “vaccine” with these shots. The efforts to make them mandatory might have made sense if the overall efficacy was closer to 100%…[Read more]

David the Gnome started the topic The Inevitability of China in the forum General Discussion 3 weeks ago
I know that a lot of what has been coming out of China lately is questionable. Are the deaths from covid as high as some suspect? Well, I think we can safely say that they aren’t as low as Chinese authorities report. This isn’t a problem unique to China, of course. There are many accusations that the US either over-reported or und…[Read more]

I’m not terribly familiar with the Orthodox church, but it seems unlikely to me that it would be a place to plan… Idk, dissent? Rebellion? Terrorism? What are they calling it, exactly?
I have always been of the opinion that government and religion should leave each other the fuck alone. Did we really learn nothing from the crusades, the inq…[Read more]

What are they going to do about it though? Opinions of the general public may be shifting, but are the billionaires and the politicians backed by them going to change? Haha, no.
Europe has the same issues we do, they are controlled by the wealthy elite and a rabidly growing far right. Liberal Europeans have lost as many, if not more el…[Read more]

Maybe a temporary ceasefire would end very badly. Best to come up with a permanent one. Yes, I share your feelings about western governments, just…
There has to be a point at which sanity prevails. There are several very good reasons that armies have never liked fighting in winter. You’ll lose as many or more to the cold and hun…[Read more]

This is idiocy, not Patriotism. Winter is pretty much here (at least, in my neck of the woods) and his people are going to be hungry, freezing, sick and suffering. This is exactly the time for him and for world powers to call for ceasefire.
No, Minsk 3 would sink, so might any other deal – but even a temporary one could save many lives. Th…[Read more]

I honestly think that if our egocentric, belligerent politicians were willing to sit down and talk this out with both parties, a resolution could be reached. Something neither side liked but both could live with.
The problem is so many are still trying to fight the cold war. Or they are calculating decisions to weaken Russia as much as p…[Read more]

I’ve been avoiding the headache of politics for a while now. The upcoming midterms, unfortunately, have pulled me back in a bit. Just the idea of that prick LePage becoming Governor again is enough to convince me to cast at least one vote. Barely.

Where are all the calls for ceasefire? Oh, that’s right, “progressive” democrats wrote a letter calling for it… Which they quickly retracted. Yeah, they want the Ukrainians to bleed Russia dry. The cost to Ukrainians seems to be irrelevant to our politicians and even to the UN.
Our weapons are there, our troops are there, our money is th…[Read more]

I know oil isn’t generally supposed to be green. Sounds bad.
Seriously… It is like saying up is down and passing legislation based on that. Of course the U.S. does it all the time, but aren’t Europeans supposed to be more enlightened or some shit?

How many rounds can you fire with, say, a standard Glock, before you have to reload? How about a typical hunting rifle or shotgun?
If my understanding is accurate, the AR 15 is not difficult to mod for a magazine with, say, 50 rounds. Rapid rate of fire as well. There is a reason these are frequently used in mass shootings.
Yes, a handgun is…[Read more]

Simply put: you don’t need an AR 15 for hunting. If you do, then you really need to learn what the heck you are doing before you shoot yourself in the face by accident.
I do not see an issue with people owning fire arms, but unless you are in a war zone you don’t need such a high capacity weapon.
I think safety and registration need to be…[Read more]
